Kate Silverton and husband welcome a baby girl

BBC Newsreader Kate Silverton has given birth to her first child, a baby girl which her and husband Mike Heron have named Clemency Florence Rose.

The baby was expected at the end of October, but she ultimately showed up on 5 November at Queen Charlotte’s hospital in Hammersmith, central London.

The 41 year old newsreader had discussed her pregnancy as a wonder, as she had dreaded that she would be unable to conceive. She had an operation to clear out a cyst at the age of 29 which led to her losing an ovary, but the couple introduced in May that Kate had fallen pregnant by natural means after four failed cycles of IVA.

Kate and Mike have referred to their little girl as “divine” and in a statement from her agent Kate said that she had “big lips and big feet like her mummy”.

The couple were seen out and about just one day before Clemency emerged, taking some time out from all the demands of planning everything for example nursery bedding sets and anything else necessary to get the house ready for the new baby.
